The Standards Behind Directory Certified
Directory Certified is a reviewed designation for restoration companies that provide stronger business, credential, reputation, and service-area information.
It is a paid membership, but payment alone does not earn the badge. A company must meet the published standards below and remain eligible while its membership is active.
Written for restoration companies deciding how to present their business, and for property owners trying to understand what the badge means.
$50 per month or $500 per year, per physical business location.
The company must satisfy the directory’s published requirements before the badge is displayed.
Certified information may be reviewed again and the badge may be paused or removed when requirements are no longer met.
More Than a Paid Listing
Directory Certified is designed to give property owners more context about the restoration company behind a listing.
A certified profile provides a fuller picture of the local operation, including its identity, services, coverage, credentials, public reputation, emergency availability, and company experience.
The badge means the company supplied information that met The Restoration Directory’s standards at the time of review.
Directory Certified is a directory designation. It is not a contractor license, government certification, insurance-carrier approval, or guarantee of workmanship.
Understand the Difference
Basic Company Visibility
A free listing gives a restoration company a published presence in the directory and allows property owners to view its basic business and service information.
- No membership fee
- Physical business location
- Up to 3 additional service cities
- Business phone and website
- Services offered
- Reported service area
- Public review profile when available
- Clearly labeled as a Free Listing
A free listing is not Directory Certified and should not be presented as a recommendation or endorsement.
A More Complete, Reviewed Profile
Directory Certified membership provides a more detailed company profile and places the business into the directory’s certification review process.
- $50 per month or $500 annually
- Priced per physical business location
- Up to 15 additional service cities
- Expanded company and service content
- Credential and insurance information
- Local operation and coverage review
- Public reputation context
- Directory Certified badge after approval
- Ongoing profile and eligibility review
Membership begins the review process. Payment alone does not guarantee approval or continued use of the badge.
What a Directory Certified Company Must Show
Restoration businesses vary by state, specialty, company size, and ownership structure. Independent businesses and locally operated franchise locations are both welcome.
The review focuses on whether the actual operation behind the listing can provide accurate, useful, and supportable information.
A Verifiable Business
The listing must represent a real restoration business with a consistent company identity, working contact information, a physical operating location, and an active website or established online presence.
Relevant Credentials
The company must provide applicable licenses, restoration certifications, insurance information, or other professional credentials for the services it promotes.
Requirements may differ by state and by service.
A Public Reputation
The company must have a public review profile that property owners can visit when available.
Review count alone does not determine approval. Rating patterns, recency, consistency, and repeated customer concerns may provide additional context.
A Realistic Service Area
The company must identify the communities its local operation can reasonably serve.
Certified status is not intended to support unlimited city claims or service areas that the company cannot realistically respond to.
Clear Service Information
The profile must clearly explain the restoration services the company performs, such as water damage, fire and smoke damage, mold remediation, sewage cleanup, storm damage, or reconstruction.
Accurate and Current Information
The company is responsible for keeping its phone number, website, location, services, credentials, insurance information, and reported coverage accurate.
Materially outdated or misleading information may affect certified status.
What a Certified Profile Must Include
Before the Directory Certified badge is published, the company profile must contain enough information to help a property owner understand who the company is, what it does, and where it works.
Required
- Approved company logo
- Approved primary profile image
- Business overview
- At least one detailed service section
- Physical location
- Defined service area
- Working phone number or website
- Contact for listing corrections
- Completed certification review
Optional profile enhancements
- Team biographies
- Recent restoration projects
- Additional service details
- Customer review highlights
- Rating and review data
- Certifications and credential documents
- Emergency response information
Optional enhancements can make a profile more useful, but they should not be described as mandatory when they are not required for publication.
From Membership to Certification
- 01
Create the Listing
The company completes its business profile and selects the Directory Certified membership option.
- 02
Provide Information
The company submits its location, services, coverage, credentials, reputation, and other required profile information.
- 03
Directory Review
The submission is reviewed for completeness, consistency, and alignment with the published standards.
- 04
Clarification
When information is incomplete or unclear, the directory may request documentation, corrections, or additional details.
- 05
Certification Published
When the requirements are met, the Directory Certified badge and expanded profile are published.
An active paid membership may exist while a profile is still being completed or reviewed. The badge is not displayed until approval is complete.

Built for Traditional and AI Search
A complete Directory Certified profile organizes important company information in a consistent format.
That can help search engines, AI systems, property owners, adjusters, and other users better understand:
- Who the company is
- Where its local operation is located
- What restoration services it performs
- Which communities it serves
- What credentials it reports
- How customers can contact it
- What experience and public reputation information is available
The goal is clearer company information and stronger discoverability—not a promise of rankings, citations, leads, or revenue.

The Badge Must Continue to Mean Something
Directory Certified status is not intended to be permanent when the information behind it is no longer accurate.
Certified profiles may be reviewed again when information changes, a correction is submitted, a credential expires, the company becomes unreachable, or the directory identifies a material inconsistency.
Status may be paused when
- Required profile information becomes incomplete
- The business cannot be contacted
- Licensing or insurance information expires
- The company stops serving the published area
- A correction request identifies a material concern
- The membership becomes inactive
Status may be removed when
- False or misleading information is submitted
- Credential or business information cannot be supported
- Material inaccuracies remain unresolved
- The company requests removal
- The business closes or no longer provides restoration services
- The company repeatedly fails to keep its profile accurate
When practical, the company should be given an opportunity to correct incomplete or outdated information before the badge is removed. Anyone can submit a correction or read our editorial standards.
Certification Provides Context, Not a Promise of Results
No directory designation can guarantee what will happen during an individual restoration project.
Directory Certified does not guarantee:
- Workmanship
- Pricing
- Response time
- Insurance coverage
- Claim approval
- Customer satisfaction
- Search rankings
- AI citations
- Leads or job volume
- Continued availability
- A specific project outcome
Property owners should still verify current credentials where required, review contracts, ask questions, and make their own hiring decision. Find a restoration company in your area.

How much does Directory Certified cost?
Membership is $50 per month or $500 per year for each physical business location enrolled.
